Metal Shop Assistant (Kauai)
Are you interested in a hands-on job where you can learn new skills, work with a great local team, and help build roofing products used throughout Hawaii?

Island Metals is looking for a dependable and motivated Metal Shop Assistant to help support daily shop operations. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys physical work, likes working with tools and equipment, and wants to learn more about manufacturing and the construction industry.

You will assist with preparing roofing materials, loading and unloading products, helping with deliveries, maintaining equipment and organization, and supporting the production team throughout the day.

No prior metal roofing experience is required — we are willing to train the right person with a strong attitude and willingness to learn.


Job Responsibilities
• Assist with preparing and organizing customer orders 
• Help load, unload, and stage roofing materials and products 
• Assist with operating metal manufacturing equipment under supervision 
• Help maintain shop cleanliness, organization, and safety 
• Assist with deliveries and offloading materials at customer job sites 
• Support production team members with daily manufacturing tasks 
• Clean and maintain tools, machinery, and work areas 
• Help organize inventory and materials within the shop and warehouse 
• Provide friendly and professional customer service when interacting with contractors and homeowners 
• Assist with shutting down and securing operations at the end of the workday

Job Benefits
Starting pay $20-$25/hour (based on experience and capability)

Job Skills & Qualifications
• Strong work ethic and willingness to learn 
• Ability to perform physical work and lift up to 50 pounds 
• Dependable and punctual 
• Ability to work well with others in a team environment 
• Comfortable working with tools, equipment, and materials 
• Basic construction, carpentry, warehouse, or labor experience is a plus but not required 
• Valid driver’s license preferred 
• Ability to follow safety procedures and instructions

Metal Shop Lead Trainee (Kauai)
Are you interested in building a long-term career in manufacturing and operations while learning specialized skills in the metal roofing industry?

Island Metals is looking for a motivated individual to train alongside our operations leadership team and develop into a future lead manufacturing shop operator. This is a hands-on position for someone who enjoys working with tools and equipment, learning new skills, solving problems, and taking ownership in a growing local company.

This role is more than an assistant position — we are looking for someone with the attitude and potential to eventually help lead daily shop operations as they grow within the company.

You will work directly with experienced leadership to learn production operations, specialized manufacturing equipment, deliveries, customer interaction, inventory coordination, and day-to-day shop management responsibilities.


Job Responsibilities
• Learn and help operate specialized metal roofing manufacturing equipment including bending, cutting, roll forming, and standing seam machinery 
• Train to become a lead operator responsible for daily production workflow and shop operations 
• Assist with production scheduling, order preparation, and material coordination 
• Help deliver and offload roofing products using company trucks and trailers 
• Learn proper installation guidance and product applications in order to support customers and contractors 
• Maintain equipment by performing routine inspections, cleaning, setup, troubleshooting, and coordinating replacement parts when necessary 
• Help monitor inventory levels and organize materials within the shop and warehouse 
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment 
• Assist with loading, unloading, packaging, and staging customer orders 
• Provide strong customer service and professional communication with contractors and homeowners 
• Work closely with team members to improve efficiency, organization, and production flow 
• Help close and secure operations at the end of the workday 


Job Benefits
Starting pay $24-$32/hour (based on experience and capability)

Job Skills & Qualifications
• Strong work ethic and willingness to learn 
• Mechanically inclined with an interest in equipment and manufacturing operations 
• Ability to perform physical work and lift up to 50 pounds 
• Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently 
• Ability to problem solve and take initiative 
• Comfortable working both inside the shop and occasionally at customer job sites 
• Basic understanding of construction, manufacturing, carpentry, roofing, or building trades is a plus 
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record preferred 
• Ability to communicate professionally with customers and team members 
• Understanding of and willingness to follow all safety procedures and protocols
